RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS DEBUTS AT #1 ON CANADIAN  SOUNDSCAN ALBUM AND DIGITAL ALBUM CHARTS WITH LATEST RELEASE STADIUM ARCADIUM

HIGHEST SELLING CD OF 2006 WITH SALES OF OVER 64,000 COPIES

Warner Music Canada is pleased to announce that the Red Hot Chili Peppers' latest release  Stadium Arcadium entered both the Canadian SoundScan Album and Digital Album sales chart at  #1, selling over 64,000 copies in its first week of release. This is the highest-selling debut CD of 2006 to date.

The album's lead single, "Dani California", was serviced to radio stations on April 3 and debuted on the Canadian rock radio charts the very next day. Just over two weeks later it reached #1, where it has remained for the past four weeks. It has also crossed over to other radio formats and is already the #3 most played song across all of Canadian radio. "Dani California" marks the sixth #1 song at Canadian rock radio for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This, along with the 39 weeks that they have held the #1 spot, makes the Peppers one of the most successful artists in Canadian radio history. The video for "Dani California" was also immediately added at MuchMusic as "The Big One" and continues in heavy rotation

Stadium Arcadium, a 2-CD set, was released on Warner Bros./Warner Music Canada on  Tuesday, May 9th.  The collection contains 28 songs divided between two discs, one dubbed Jupiter and the other Mars.

"It's a double dose from a band at the top of its game," reported the Los Angeles TimesRolling Stone called Stadium Arcadium "most anticipated," while the U.K.'s Q predicted it would be "the biggest album of 2006 -- and the most ambitious."

Singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary, guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith actually wrote 38 songs, recording all of them with producer Rick Rubin in the same house in the Hollywood Hills where they recorded 1991's groundbreaking, multi-platinum BloodSugarSexMagik

"We set out to write 13 songs," says Kiedis.  "But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs.  The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28."

Stadium Arcadium is the ninth album from the Chili Peppers and the first since 2002's By the Way. All told, the band has sold more than 50 million albums and has logged seven multiplatinum CDs.
